Recipe of the Week

Leah’s Egg Fried Rice w/ Summer Veggies: Finely dice and saute green onions, garlic, green pepper, carrot, and kale or chard. Cook well beaten egg separately and cut into bite sized pieces. Add egg to sauteed veggies. To the veggie/egg combo add tamari, honey, cumin, turmeric, salt, pepper and other spices you like. Stir in cooked rice – white or brown until well mixed. Add chopped parsley and chopped peanuts. Cook for another minute or 2. Serve hot. Kids like it!

Farm News and Notes

We welcome Sindhu and Dane to our internship team this week!

The Youth Organics crew, led by CSA member Rana, visited our farm on Tuesday. We had a great conversation about the reasons for farming, spanning from histories of land displacement to ensuring the health of our communities. We then tied and pruned tomatoes. We cooked and shared an amazing lunch of pasta primavera and salad! Not to have Albany outdo Troy, two youth groups shared time with us on Thursday from the Collar City. Collar City Growers and the Youth Media Alliance brought amazing heart and positive energy. We managed to clean and sort all the garlic, move chickens to fresh pasture, cook lunch, make commercials for healthy food, AND film for an information video about the farm. WOW!

A big congratulations to CSA members and friends Victorio and Laura, who held their devotion ceremony this last weekend. SFF collard greens were represented at the reception!

We finished off the week with a visit from Climate Confluence organizers Sundeep, Dara, and Courtney who received a donation of 1 bushel of chard, 1 peck of onions, and 3.5 lbs of garlic for their gathering this weekend – an honor for us to share.

Have a great week!
Jonah, Leah, Neshima and Emet
