2014 Black and Latino Farmers Immersion at Soul Fire Farm

June 30-July 4, 2014 (Arrival Sunday, June 29)

Cost: Sliding scale $90-360. Open to your ideas for barter as well.

To Apply: Send a bio and letter of interest to soulfirefarm@gmail.com

The immersion program is designed for novice farmers to get basic skills in planting, weeding, harvesting, hand tool use, and whole foods preparation. Each day will include 6 hours of real work on the farm, a 1 hour class on sustainable living skills, and 1 hour reflection on our place in the food system as Diasporic people. Participants will be camping outdoors and have access to a comfortable naturally-built home for meals, bathrooms, and leisure. We will prepare meals and clean up together as a community.

Soul Fire Farm is a family farm committed to dismantling the oppressive structures that misguide our food system. We live on 72 acres and intensively grow produce for families in the Albany and Troy communities on 1 acre and meat and eggs on an additional acre. Learn more at www.soulfirefarm.com
